OUT THERE is a Joint National Queer Youth Development Project between the New Zealand AIDS Foundation and Rainbow Youth. The aim of OUT THERE is to enhance the wellbeing of Queer youth within Aotearoa NZ. The project is endeavoring to combat queer based prejudice and discrimination through the development of environments that are safe and supportive of queer young people. Such environments will be of benefit to all young people who are impacted upon by queer based prejudice.

Safety in Our Schools Action Kit

New Zealand research has highlighted that schools are often unsafe environments for young people who are, or perceived to be, transgender, bisexual, Takataapui, gay, Faafafine or lesbian. Anyone seen as differing to the heterosexual norm is potentially a target for abuse and discrimination. This resource provides information and strategies to assist schools in enhancing their environments to be inclusive of sexuality and gender diversity. The rationale is that all students should be able to actively participate and reach their potential within the school environment.
